How much does a feedback widget cost?

Published list prices for eight feedback and visual feedback tools, verified July 2026, plus the seat and site limits that decide what you actually pay.

David Garcia · · Updated

A feedback widget costs between $0 and roughly $200 per month for a self-serve plan, and the spread comes almost entirely from how the vendor counts seats and projects rather than from the widget itself. We build PushFeedback, so we have an interest here. What we can do is show you the published numbers side by side, say where a number is not publishable, and explain which limit will be the one that actually moves your bill.

Every figure below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 28 July 2026. Prices change without announcement, so verify anything you are about to buy.

Two entries need explaining rather than reading off the table.

Usersnap publishes its tier names and its seat and project limits, but the dollar amounts render client-side and are not present in the page source. Third-party aggregators circulate figures for those tiers. We are not repeating them, because we cannot verify them, and a price we cannot verify is a price we should not print. Open usersnap.com/pricing in a browser and read it yourself.

Mintlify's $450 floor was human-verified in a browser in July 2026, and it is the price of the plan, not of the feedback feature. Feedback is gated to Pro and Enterprise, and it also requires telemetry enabled in docs.json or nothing shows up.

Seats and sites, not features, decide your bill

The pricing pages are organized as feature ladders, but seats and projects usually determine the final bill.

Marker.io Starter is 3 users, and BugHerd Standard is 5 members. Userback Team is 5 seats and 2 projects, and its unlimited-seat plan starts at $79/mo billed annually. Ruttl is priced per user at $18/month, which is the cheapest single seat here and the most expensive twentieth seat.

For a documentation team, the limiting count is usually projects or websites, not people. If you run docs for four products on four subdomains, a plan capped at one or two projects is a plan you will outgrow in a quarter, regardless of how many people log in. That is the mismatch we hear about most: a tool priced for an agency running 50 client sites, sold to a docs team running 4.

Our own answer is to move that limit rather than the seat count. PushFeedback Free is one website and one seat. Professional at $24/mo is a single site with the full workflow: filters, archiving, CSV or Excel export, email on every entry with no cap, Slack, Teams, Jira and webhooks, an analytics dashboard, and screenshots retained rather than expiring at 30 days. Unlimited at $59/mo is where sites and seats both stop counting, and it adds API keys and AI Reports. Full detail is on /pricing.

What a free plan actually buys

Free plans in this category fall into three shapes, and the shape matters more than the word "free".

Free forever with hard limits. Userback's Free Forever plan gives 2 seats and 2 projects, with feedback available for 7 days. Ruttl's Basic plan gives 1 project, 5 pages and 10 comments, while its current page conflicts on whether the allowance is 1 user plus 5 guests or up to 5 users. PushFeedback's free tier takes unlimited entries on 1 website with 1 seat, every entry readable in the dashboard for good, the first 25 entries emailed and then a monthly summary, and screenshots kept for 30 days.

Free start with a usage cap. Usersnap's free start covers the first 20 feedback items with no credit card, and access ends after 20 items or 90 days of inactivity. It is intended for evaluation rather than ongoing use.

Trial only. Marker.io and BugHerd both advertise trials, 15 days in Marker.io's case, with no free tier published as of July 2026.

The practical test is retention, not volume. A widget that accepts unlimited feedback but deletes it after a week is a widget you cannot use to argue for a docs rewrite next quarter. Across 25,000+ feedback reports processed since 2023, the entries that changed a page were routinely read weeks after they arrived, because someone was auditing a section rather than watching an inbox.

The rating widget you may already have

If a thumbs rating is all you need, you may not need a separate paid tool.

Material for MkDocs ships a feedback widget as part of the open source theme at no cost, configured under extra.analytics.feedback. The docs describe it as natively integrated with Google Analytics, which is why a provider and property are required, and they note that custom feedback integrations are also possible. It collects ratings, not screenshots, and it does not include a feedback-management dashboard or AI Reports. Decide whether you need those workflows before comparing paid plans.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest feedback widget for a documentation site?

Free, if a rating is enough: the Material for MkDocs theme includes a rating widget at no cost, and PushFeedback, Userback, and Ruttl publish free tiers as of July 2026. Among paid plans with published prices, Ruttl's Pro at $18/month per user is the lowest per-seat figure and PushFeedback Professional at $24/mo is the lowest flat monthly figure in this set. Which is cheaper for you depends entirely on how many seats you need.

Why do some vendors not publish their prices?

Two different reasons. Enterprise and Business tiers at Marker.io, BugHerd, Userback and Ruttl are sales-gated by design, which is normal for plans with custom limits and security review. Usersnap and Mintlify do publish self-serve prices, but render the amounts in JavaScript, so the figures are not readable in the page source even though a human sees them in a browser.

Is annual billing worth it?

It is a 15 to 20 percent class of discount across most of this set. BugHerd gives two months free on annual billing, Marker.io and Userback both price their annual plans well below their monthly ones, and PushFeedback annual saves $48/yr on Professional and $118/yr on Unlimited. Ruttl shows a yearly toggle without stating the discount. Annual billing makes sense after the team has tested the workflow and expects to keep using it for the full term.

What is not included in the sticker price?

Retention and routing, usually. Screenshot retention is a plan gate on more than one tool in this set, including ours, where the free tier keeps screenshots 30 days and paid plans keep them indefinitely. Integrations are the other common gate: on PushFeedback, Slack, Teams, Jira and webhooks start at Professional, and API keys at Unlimited. Read the retention line and the integration line before the headline number.

Working out your own number

Count your sites, count the people who will actually read the feedback, and decide whether you need screenshots or ratings. Those three answers narrow this table to two options in about five minutes. If a documentation site is what you are pricing, our plans are on /pricing, the free tier needs no card, and the visual feedback tools roundup covers what each of these tools does beyond its price.
